I’m Jan Croft, the maker, dreamer, and occasional paper-cut survivor behind Little HeartString. My journey began in interior and furniture design, where I once owned a boutique specializing in high-end contemporary furniture in Cape Town. Then, life happened (hello, four kids!), and I took a step back from retail. During that time, I rekindled my love for craft, swapped showroom floors for a cozy home studio, and never looked back. And just like that, Little HeartString was born!

Whimsical Designs, Thoughtfully Made

Little HeartString is all about capturing a sense of nostalgia, adventure, and wonder—perfect for nurseries, playrooms, or any space that could use a little extra magic. My designs include:

✨ Hot air balloon mobiles – because what’s more enchanting than floating away on an adventure?
🦋 Butterfly mobiles – delicate, timeless, and perfect for adding a soft, whimsical touch.
🎈 Giant hot air balloons – for those who love a statement piece with a touch of old-world charm, as if from the pages of a vintage explorer’s journal.
☁️ Cloud garlands – bringing a little piece of the sky indoors—minus the dodgy weather.

Each piece is handcrafted from thick cardstock, with some designs featuring vintage map paper, sheet music, or repurposed book pages—treasures I find trawling charity shops and second-hand bookshops. Because the best stories deserve a second life.

Every item is crafted by hand in my home studio—no factory lines, no soulless production, just patience, precision, and possibly a forgotten cup of tea. Sustainability is at the heart of my work, ensuring that each mobile and garland is as kind to the planet as it is delightful to look at. Whether you’re preparing a nursery, searching for a thoughtful gift, or adding a touch of whimsy to a child’s space, my designs are made to bring joy (and maybe a few “oohs” and “aahs” from visitors).

Ordering & Shipping

The shop opens for orders when new stock is available, with opening dates announced in advance. Each item is made to order and shipped via courier. Please allow up to three weeks for worldwide delivery.
